Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Palakkad district of Kerala, India. It is nestled in the Western Ghats, a mountain range recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding biological diversity. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its lush forests, diverse wildlife, and picturesque landscapes.
Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Anamalai Hills, bordering the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. It spans across an area of approximately 285 square kilometers (110 square miles) and is part of the larger Parambikulam Tiger Reserve.
The sanctuary's wildlife is equally impressive. It provides habitat to several endangered and endemic species, including the Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, Indian leopard, gaur (Indian bison), sloth bear, and lion-tailed macaque. Other notable animals found in the sanctuary include sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, Nilgiri langur, and several species of reptiles and birds.
