Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary in the outskirts of the city is named after the Peppara dam. It is covered with evergreen forests, freshwater swamps, hills and valleys. Visitors can enjoy sightseeing, and trekking activities. It is one of the best trekking options in the capital city which includes trekking to forest area – Bonafalls, Vazahuvanthole water falls,Kalarkad waterfalls, visit to settlement areas etc.This sanctuary is one of the most loved destinations for bird watchers. It has several mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. The common mammals found are tiger, leopard, sloth bear, elephant, sambar (deer), bonnet macaque, Nilgiri langur, Nilgiri tahr.
