Vadakkunnathan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Thrissur city, Kerala, India. It is one of the most significant and renowned temples in the state and holds great religious and cultural importance.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built by Parasurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. With its architectural splendor and spiritual significance, Vadakkunnathan Temple is considered a masterpiece of traditional Kerala temple architecture.

The temple complex is surrounded by a massive stone wall and features a central shrine, known as the Srikovil, which houses the main deity, Lord Shiva. The deity is in the form of a lingam, representing the divine energy of Lord Shiva. The lingam is believed to be a self-manifested one, known as Swayambhu.
