Vembanad Lake, also known as Vembanad Kayal, is the largest lake in the Indian state of Kerala and one of the longest lakes in India. It is situated in the district of Alappuzha (Alleppey), in the southwestern part of the state. The lake is approximately 96.5 kilometers (60 miles) long and spans several districts, including Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam.
Vembanad Lake is a major tourist attraction and a popular backwater destination in Kerala. The lake is renowned for its serene and picturesque beauty, with lush greenery, coconut groves, and paddy fields adorning its banks. The surrounding landscape is dotted with numerous small islands, some of which are inhabited.
